5gen iPod Nano: Video Camera, Voice Recorder, Pausable FM Radio,

Apple's new fifth generation iPod Nano with video camera, FM tuner and Pedometer was finally unveiled at the Rock and Roll event held in San Francisco yesterday. Apple CEO Steve Jobs said that the company got inspired with the flash-memory based pocket cameras. The two camera bearing iPod nano models - 8GB and 16GB - are priced at Rs. 9,700 and Rs. 11,200 respectively and will be available in nine vibrant colors: Red, Pink, Silver, Black, Purple, Blue, Green, Orange and Yellow.


The fifth generation iPod Nano has larger 2.2-inch LCD display supporting 240x376 pixel resolution but bears the same shape as the fourth generation iPod Nano. The new iPod Nano has a built-in video camera with mic placed on the back of the unit.

The camera shoots H.264 VGA video in 640x480 pixel resolutions at 30 frames per second with AAC audio - in either portrait or landscape mode. Along with that new iPod Nano also has fifteen special effects applicable real time: Sepia, Black and White, X-Ray, Film Grain, Thermal, Security Cam, Cyborg, Bulge,
Kaleido, Motion Blur, Mirror, Light Tunnel, Dent, Stretch, and Twirl.
Built-in microphone can also be used as a voice recorder. Just like many other media players, consumers will be delighted to know that new iPod Nano has built-in FM tuner with live pause feature. With live pause feature users can rewind up to 15 minutes and then catch up with the live broadcast. Also the iTunes Tagging feature allows tagging songs played radio for identifying them. Then iTunes will create a list for later viewing or purchase songs from iTunes store.

The new iPod Nano also has built in VoiceOver support with navigation cues in 20 languages and looks like becoming a norm in iPod lineup. Another innovative feature called the Genius Mixes automatically creates up to 12 playlists based on the music on the device's media library. Now you can keep track of your steps with the built-in pedometer when used with Nike+ Service along with specific Nike shoes pair. Of course, the shake to shuffle feature still exists, you hold the iPod in landscape mode and press the center button to experience the Cover Flow feature.

Up to 24 hours of music playback or 5 hours of video playback is offered in single charge of new iPod Nano. The 8GB new iPod Nano model can record up to 7 hours of video while 16GB model can capture up to 14 hours of video.
